Top 100 Asian Stars in UK Tech 2015 Raj Sivalingam - Executive Director, Telecoms & UK Spectrum Policy Forum - Tech UK Raj Sivalingam is the Executive Director for Telecoms and Spectrum at TechUK, an organisation involves the leadership of activities in support of telecommunications-based companies. Raj’s responsibilities include negotiating and influencing government and regulatory policy, knowledge sharing (across industry) and thought leadership, and enabling market development (ie. tackling business issues and barriers). He was recently asked by Government officials to establish an industry forum (UK Spectrum Policy Forum) to act as a sounding board on the future approaches on spectrum and a working group on internet child safety. Prior to joining TechUK he was a Senior Civil Servant as Director for UK Space Policy and European Relations, where he led the development of UK government policies and strategy on space activities. Prior to this, he worked at The Radiocommunications Agency, RA, (now Ofcom). In the private sector, he held roles as the Chief Technologist at M/A-Com Ltd and senior programme manager at Matra Marconi Space Ltd. He has an MBA from Imperial College London, a B.Eng degree in Electronic Engineering from Sheffield University and is a chartered engineer. Reshma Sohoni Partner & Co-Founder - Seedcamp Reshma Sohoni is Partner and Co-Founder at Seedcamp, an accelerator helping startups from prototype to IPO with $25K-$250K in initial funding. Early on in her career during the height of the dot com boom, Reshma worked in M&A and venture capital across B2B Software and Internet services businesses in the US and India. She had a small helping hand in building MakeMyTrip (NASDAQ) in its formative days. Following on from this, Reshma went to INSEAD and earned her MBA, fell in love with Europe and stayed on to work in Commercial and Marketing Strategy at Vodafone. Reshma has always combined technology and business from university to today. Getting degrees in both Engineering and Business (UPenn M&T) meant that from an early age she was cultivating a path that would always bring business and technology together. Starting Seedcamp in 2007 was a once in a lifetime opportunity and one that she jumped into with a strong desire to help the European founder realize global success. Seedcamp has made 169 investments in 158 companies and exited from 12 acquisitions to date. Anil Stocker Co-Founder & CEO - Marketinvoice Anil Stocker is CEO and Co-Founder of MarketInvoice, one of Europe’s largest peer-to-peer finance providers, connecting businesses with outstanding invoices to investors. Anil cofounded the company in 2011 and been the CEO ever since, overseeing more than £380m worth of invoices traded. MarketInvoice has raised $10.4 million in two rounds of funding. From August 2013, the UK Government became an active investor on MarketInvoice as part of the British Business Bank initiative to provide SMEs with access to finance. Having studied economics at Cambridge, Anil worked in private equity for Lehman Brothers and Cogent Partners for five years during which time he spoke to hundreds of business owners and came to understand the financial constraints they faced. Along with friends from his time at Cambridge he hit upon the idea of helping businesses access finance by selling individual invoices direct to investors to raise funding. He quit his job in 2010 and MarketInvoice began trading in 2011. In 2012, Anil was named as one of Forbes Magazine’s 30 under 30 entrepreneurs and has won numerous business awards. 40
