Ali Parsa
Founder of Babylon
Ali Parsa is an engineer and a healthcare entrepreneur. He founded Babylon in 2013 with the
goal of creating an integrated digital healthcare system combining the latest advances in
technology with modern medicine; it aims to eventually provide a virtual healthcare service to
anyone, anywhere, through any mobile device. Prior to Babylon, Ali founded Circle and built
it within a few years to become Europe’s largest partnership of clinicians, with some £200m of
revenue, near 3,000 employees and a successful IPO. In the mid 1990s, Ali worked in banking
for Credit Suisse, Merrill Lynch and Goldman Sachs. He was named by The Times among the
‘100 Global People To Watch’ in 2012. Ali is the UK Cabinet Office Ambassador for Mutuals and
has a PhD in Engineering Physics from University College London.

Nitin Passi

Nitin Passi is Founder & CEO of Missguided.com, a fast fashion women’s retailer setup in 2009.
It is now one of the fastest growing online retailers in the world and has quickly become an
international fashion source offering the latest in trend-led clothing, shoes, and accessories to
women across the globe. The company employs 600 staff and expects to report revenues of
£90m - almost double last year’s figure of £51m. Profits are also expected to leap, from £1m to
£6m, and he is hoping for sales of £165m for the year ending in March 2016.
After graduating from Newcastle University in 2005 with a degree in Business Management, he
joined his father’s firm importing, designing and selling clothing to all the high street chains
and department stores in the U.S. He was based in New York, and lived there for two years,
getting a solid grounding in the fashion business in everything from design to production.
At the height of the 2008 recession, he saw that the only growth area was online and so he
borrowed £50,000 from his father and launched Missguided.com in March 2009. It was named
as the 5th Fastest Growing Private Company in the UK in 2014.
