Hussein Kanji
Partner - Hoxton Ventures
Hussein Kanji is a founding partner of Hoxton Ventures, a $40 million London-based early
stage technology venture capital firm. He currently represents Hoxton’s investments on the
boards of bd4travel which provides IT solutions which identify the future vacation dreams
of individual users; Campanja, which delivers the paid search industry’s most advanced SEM
bidding engine and Deliveroo, a technology company focused on marketing, selling and
delivering restaurant meals to the household or office. Since 2010 he has been an Angel
investor and advisor to a number of companies including Bea’s of Bloomsbury; European
Leaders; Exceptional.io (acquired by Rackspace); Exclusively.in (acquired by Myntra); Flypost;
GoCardless, Jaycut (acquired by RIM); KBG; Signpost and Tarmin and a Non-Executive Director
at POPxo and Bea’s of Bloomsbury.
A London School of Business MBA graduate, Hussein has had stints at Accel Partners; Microsoft;
Safe-View (acquired by L-3); Radiance (acquired by Comcast); Sun Microsystems and Studio
Verso (acquired by KPMG).
Mark Kanji
Founder & CEO - Apptivation
Mark Kanji is the Founder & CEO of Apptivation, UK’s Leading Mobile Innovation Agency,
based in the heart of London, which was set up in 2012. A dynamic, results-orientated leader
with a track record of delivering digital innovation, Mark previously led the implementation
of new online and mobile channels within leading UK Financial Institutions, including Mobile
Transformation at Lloyds Banking Group; as Programme Manager at Investec, and The Tower
Group and Senior Project Manager at Vero Insurance New Zealand. Following a BA in Commerce
from the University of Auckland, Mark joined Accenture as a Consultant.
Bindi Karia
Vice President - Silicon Valley Bank
Bindi Karia has been Vice President Silicon Valley Bank, Europe since January 2013 and leads
the bank’s early stage banking efforts in Europe. Having devoted much of her career in and
around the startup ecosystem, most recently as the Venture Capital/Emerging Business lead at
Microsoft UK where for five years, she lead BizSpark in the UK (now, Microsoft Ventures). She
focused on how Microsoft could drive success for early-stage technology companies as well as
partnering with the UK Investor Community. Her previous role at Microsoft was as a Business
Productivity Advisor for FinServ C-Level Execs. Prior to that, Bindi worked as Associate Director
in Interregnum; as BizDev Manager at Trayport, a commodities trading technology start-up;
as Strategy Management Consultant at PwC Consulting; and as Senior Business Analyst at
Datamonitor.
She sits on many Industry Advisory Boards, and has recently been appointed a Trustee for
Up Global. She’s an active mentor and supporter at some top London Incubators including
Seedcamp, TechStars, Startupbootcamp, WAYRA, JLab, Microsoft Ventures & Level39. In 2014,
London Evening Standard named Bindi as part of the Silicon 60 and Top 1000 Influential
Londoners, and GQ Magazine named her in Britain’s 100 Most Influential Women List.
