Top 100 Asian Stars in UK Tech 2015 Suran Goonatilake Co-Founder & CEO - Bodymetrics Suran Goonatilake OBE is a Sri Lankan born British entrepreneur. He is the CEO and co-founder of Bodymetrics, a company that grew out of body-scanning research at University College London. As a PhD student at UCL, Suran co-founded a Big-Data company called Searchspace (renamed Fortent and then acquired by Actimize) whose software is used by global banks and the London Stock Exchange. In May 2005 Searchspace was acquired by Warburg Pincus, a buyout fund. Suran also co-founded the Centre for Fashion Enterprise, a non-profit initiative that finances and nurtures high-growth fashion designers in London. He was educated at Royal College Colombo and the University of Sussex. He completed his higher studies at the University College London, gaining his PhD. In 2005, Suran was made an officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the Queen’s birthday honours list for his services to Entrepreneurship. Imran Hakim CEO - Hakim Group Beginning his journey trading IT equipment whilst at still at school, Imran went on to complete his BSc Hons in Optometry and Vision Science at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology before earning his spot as one of the UK’s most innovative and vibrant young Entrepreneurs. Imran came into the media eye in 2007 when he appeared on BBC2’s Dragon’s Den TV show with iTeddy - a 21st century teddy bear. Having successfully secured investment, Imran joined forces with Peter Jones and Theo Paphitis to create one of the biggest commercial successes the den has seen to date with the multi award-winning teddy bear which won him the World Toy Innovation award in 2008. Imran currently sits as CEO of Hakim Group whose core business activities remain within the optical industry. Anuraag Jain Chief Technology Officer - IntelliQ Anuraag Jain is currently the Chief Technology Officer at IntelliQ, the leading provider of profit protection forensic analysis solutions to the retail industry. Anuraag has more than 14 years of IT experience and expertise in online transactional, e-commerce websites. He was the first IT person to join Betfair and designed their betting engine and database - this led to company going from £1 Million to £1.6 Billion valuation in less than 5 years. More recently he was the CTO of The Hut Group, the company which provides innovative solutions to the retail industry and is behind the thehut.com, zavvi.com, ASDA Entertainment and Argos Entertainment. The Hut Group was No. 1 in Sunday Times ‘Fast Track Tech 100’ companies in 2009. Previous employers include Betfair, SISL, TCS, Pinnacle Sports. An economics graduate from the University of Mumbai, he also holds a postgraduate qualification in computer programming from the Boston Computer Institute. 18
