Top 100 Asian Stars in UK Tech 2015 Suranga Chandratillake General Partner at Balderton Capital Suranga Chandratillake is the founder of blinkx.com, an Internet video search engine, and is a Board Member of the company. In 2014, Suranga joined Balderton Capital, the London, UK-based Venture Capital firm, as a General Partner. Prior to founding blinkx, Chandratillake held a variety of roles in technology, sales and marketing at Morgan Stanley, Netdecisions and Anondesign. He was also the US Chief Technology Officer of Autonomy Corporation, responsible for growing Autonomy’s research and development division in the United States. Named a Young Global Leader Honoree in 2009 by the World Economic Forum, Suranga has also been recognized as a leader in Science and Innovation by The Observer’s Future 500 list. Suranga holds an MA in Computer Science, specializing in distributed processing architectures, from the University of Cambridge. He holds patents in the area of video discovery and online video advertising and was a 2012 recipient of the Royal Academy of Engineering’s Silver Medal. Devin Chawda Co-founder and CEO, Y-cam Solutions Ltd Devin Chawda is the Co-founder and CEO of Y-cam Solutions Ltd, a cloud-based video surveillance company. Founded in 2007, Y-cam was created to make video monitoring technology simple and accessible for everyone, particularly non-technical consumers. To date the company is processing over one million customer videos each day, operating in 38 different countries with hundreds of thousands of customers worldwide. Devin has a professional background in IT and began his career starting up a range of niche online businesses. Prior to Y-cam he held a business development role within the mobile telecommunications industry and was responsible for developing new channels to market including working with accounts such as Vodafone, Samsung and T-Mobile. Ajay Chowdhury Partner and Managing Director at BCG Digital Ventures Ajay Chowdhury is a global, experienced CEO with over twenty five years experience in mobile, e-commerce, digital media, digital retail and Government and strong functional expertise in sales, strategy development, product development and fundraising. He has significant board experience as Chairman and Non-Executive Director having served on the boards of Shazam, Seatwave, ComQi, Lionhead, Department of Culture Media and Sport, Arts Council London, Virtual Internet (LSE) and FairFX (LSE-AIM) amongst others. He has raised funding successfully for several companies and participated in selling various companies including Seatwave (to Ticketmaster), Lionhead (to Microsoft), Shazam (part sold to BMI) and Virtual Internet plc (to Register.com). Ajay is currently the Partner and Managing Director at BCG Digital Ventures which is an innovation, product development, venture and commercialization firm, set up by the Boston Consulting Group. A Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) graduate from Bombay University, Ajay completed his MBA in Finance from University of Pennsylvania - The Wharton School before joining management consultants Bain & Co. 14
