QUEENSLAND JUNIOR SURFERS
WHO CLAIMED VICTORY FOR THEIR
STATE AT THE 2014 SURF DIVE ‘N SKI
AUSTRALIAN JUNIOR SURFING TITLES
IN WESTERN AUSTRALIA.
Over 27 Queensland juniors made their
way to Australia’s West coast to in a bid
to prove that Queensland still upholds
the finest surfing talent in the nation and
around the world.
After some stellar performances over the
course of the Surf Dive N Ski Australian
16 – SUMMER ISSUE
Junior Surfing Titles, Reef Heazlewood
(Moffatt Beach, Qld) showed no signs of
stopping in the final of the Under-16 Boys.
The Sunshine Coast goofy-footer managed
to fly over dead sections and link together
some massive turns to post a 15.20 heat total
(out of a possible 20 points). Local surfer
Kael Walsh (Yallingup, WA) put up a strong
battle, but ultimately fell short and had to
settle for second place.
“This feels amazing,” said Heazlewood.
“Having the entire Queensland team
behind me and support each other was
awesome. My tactic was to just have as
much fun as humanly possible and enjoy
myself. I’m so happy it worked.”
