BILLABONG PARKO GROM STOMP. PERFECT 3FT A-FRAMES WERE ON OFFER, WHICH ALLOWED FOR
THE JUNIOR SURFERS TO UNLEASH THEIR FULL SURFING POTENTIAL.
In the final of the 14 and under girls,
Snapper Rocks local Alyssa Lock
shined her true colours nailing the
highest single-wave score within
her division and highest heat total of
the event. Lock forced her opponents
into a combination situation thus
guaranteeing first place with a firm
9.60 and 9.0 (18.60 out of a possible 20).
Followed by the finals from the
14 and under girls, Luke Glover
(Caloundra, QLD) was successful in
overcoming fellow opponents Caleb
Tancred (Avoca Beach, QLD), Jaggar
Bartholomew (Coolangatta, QLD) and
Dakoda Walters (Angourie, NSW) in a
stacked 14 and under boy’s final.

Glover progressively improved on
each of his seven waves finishing the
20 minute final with a 15.83 heat total.
Furthermore, Luke also bagged the
highest single-wave score of the event
with the judge’s issuing a 9.80 (out of
a possible 10) in the early stages of the
14 and under boy’s semi final.
The 16 and under girls final saw Macy
Callaghan (Avoca Beach, NSW) who
has been in form through the whole
event, defeat Sophie McCulloch
(Alexandra Headland, QLD), Laura
Poncini (Moffat Beach, QLD) and
Kiani Dobbyn (Palm Beach, QLD).
Despite an interference call setting
him back in his semi final round, Reef
Heazlewood (Moffat Beach, QLD) still
managed to secure a second place
position in the bout, which would see
Reef shape up against Aaron Kelly
(Sunshine Beach, QLD), Zak Condon
(Lennox Head, NSW) and Liam
O’Brian (Burleigh Heads, QLD) in the
blue-ribbon 16 and under boys final.
Continuing his forceful momentum,
Heazlewood went on to than take
out the famed trophy in his final heat
by locking in a 9.17 in the business
end of competition and in doing so
defeated Aaron Kelly, Zak Condon and
Liam O’Brian respectively.
