Surfing Queensland
50th Anniversary Awards
Surfing Queensland celebrated 50 years in style at its 50th
Anniversary awards ceremony, which was attended by over
250 guests including special guests such as Wayne ‘Rabbit’
Bartholomew and World Tour Surfer, Bede Durbidge.
The modern Surfing Queensland
Spawned from the Australian Surfriders
Association Queensland (ASAQ), formed
in 1964, and has continued to develop the
sport from a grassroots level, right through
to World Championship Tour Events such
as the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro’s.
With no better way to celebrate the 50th
Anniversary, the event was held on the
surfers deck at the Quiksilver and Roxy
Pro at Snapper Rocks, the iconic break setting a perfect backdrop to a night fit for
surfing royalty.
