SURFING QUEENSLAND’S
ANNUAL NORTHERN
SURF MUSTER
THE ACTION BEGINS ON MARCH 29TH
WITH THE HIF AGNES WATER SURFING
FESTIVAL BEFORE HEADING FURTHER
NORTH TO YEPPOON FOR THE COVETED
YEPPOON SURFING FESTIVAL.
Surfers will travel from far and wide to compete in
the two festivals and, for some, dip their toes in the
water at less familiar breaks. Men, Women, girls
and boys will compete across shortboard, longboard and SUP divisions at both festivals
“They’re such fantastic events to be involved
with,” said Surfing Queensland’s Event Manager,
Adam Yates.
“There’s such great support from the local communities, and although there is a competitive element, they create such a fun environment to run a
surfing event in,” he continued.
In 2013, over 100 competitors competed across the
two iconic Discovery Coast and Capricorn Coast
events, and with the 2014 festivals starting in
March, competitors are urged to enter now.
Agnes Water is home an iconic right handed
point break, which, in the middle of Queensland’s
cyclone season, has the ability to tunnel hundred
metre long rides down its shallow sandbar while
European backpackers ignite the sand on shore
with heated beach volleyball competition.
Yeppoon, a four car ride north of Agnes Water, is
known for being the northern most surf break in
Queensland and, with the right swell, generates
punchy and hollow beach breaks along its often
deserted beaches.
