that just can ’ t make up their minds .
The Lows and Highs controls sit pre- and post-duzz , respectively . The former beefs up the signal before it heads into the sawmill and the latter restores a little clarity after the Fuze has its way with your signal . It ’ s a thoughtful addition and it ’ s a wonder why more dirt pedals don ’ t employ it . I played the Fuze with two guitars : relatively standard models of American Strat and Les Paul , and the Fuze handled both with ease . Sometimes anything fuzz-related can sound woefully blown out with humbuckers , and I am happy to report that such is not the case with the Fuze . The differences are there , sure , but they ’ re easily rectified with a twist of the Lows knob and just a hair of Mix adjustment in either direction . You won ’ t be scrambling to mess with every knob if you change guitars mid-set .
One thing I noticed when I popped the hood was a lack of transistors , and in their place was a full clip of opamps . When I see this , the first thing I think is “ chords !” All too often do many dirt circuits ( fuzz , especially ) drop the ball when fed any type of chord , especially types like barre chords . At best , fuzzes are particular , and at worst , unusable . The Fuze bucks that trend by making all chords available to all players — yes , even you mathy types tuning to C sharp .
The distortion and fuzz sounds themselves are extremely creamy , with some wild oscillation available if you play your cards right . I noticed that because the fuzz has a more ragged character than the distortion , rhythm players looking to really fill a mix might try the Fuze with a hint of fuzz , whereas lead players will find the opposite setting most pleasing . One thing ’ s for sure : If you are the only guitar player in your band , what are you doing ? Get this . We ’ ll be here when you get done .
Awesome part selection , tones to match , and a great selection propels the Fuze into stardom . The Mix control kicks on the boosters and sends this one into the upper echelon of dirt boxes .
Because the Mix control is so tweakable and offers a ton of variance , it would be nice to see it as a fullsized knob , but if your biggest gripe is the size of one knob , you know the pedal ’ s good .

WHAT WE LIKE

Awesome part selection , tones to match , and a great selection propels the Fuze into stardom . The Mix control kicks on the boosters and sends this one into the upper echelon of dirt boxes .

CONCERNS

Because the Mix control is so tweakable and offers a ton of variance , it would be nice to see it as a fullsized knob , but if your biggest gripe is the size of one knob , you know the pedal ’ s good .
