NOW PLAY THIS POWERED BY EFFECTS DATABASE ➊ GREER AMPS ENTERS THE HIVE WITH THE SUPER HORNET Based off a Foxx Tone Machine straight out of founder Nick Greer’s personal pedal collection, the Super Hornet gives players a searing octave-up fuzz that’s been used on several classic rock records. An octave toggle has two modes: On and Stinger. In Stinger mode, the octave effect is routed to the momentary footswitch, for user-controllable staccato blasts of upper octave goodness. ➊ ➋ KEELEY GOES BACK TO BASICS WITH THE HOOKE REVERB Robert Keeley has tackled all kinds of pedals, but one glaring omission in his collection is a dripping wet spring reverb. Well, reverb connoisseurs, fear no more. The Hooke Reverb promises to deliver all the surfy goodness of a classic Blackface amplifier along with some other tricks in typical Keeley fashion. A Trem Verb mode adds some movement to the ‘verb just like a real Fender amp, while Fugue mode gives an organ-style verb that, as far as we know, doesn’t yet exist elsewhere. ➋ ➌ PAL DELIVERS THE JCM 800 EMULATOR PAL’s JCM 800 emulator makes no bones about its inspiration, and with a name like this, you had better expect some backup. Well, the Emulator delivers in spades. Featuring the same control panel as a real JCM800 amplifier, including volume, gain, presence and a three-band EQ, the Emulator strives for just one thing: complete Marshall emulation at a fraction of the price of an original. The guts of the Emulator aren’t some soundalike, it is literally a JCM800 preamp in a box. ➌ 8 NOW PLAY THIS // Buzzworthy Gear
