EARTHQUAKER DEVICES AVALANCHE RUN
From the scenic, echoing canyonlands
of Akron, Ohio comes EarthQuaker’s
newest reverb pedal, the Avalanche
Run. EarthQuaker seems to be quite
dedicated to creating uniquely voiced,
left-of-center reverb effects, and the
Avalanche Run follows in this tradition
by combining two distinct tastes that
have always tasted great together:
delay and reverb. It expands upon the
foundation laid down by the company’s
beloved Dispatch Master delay-reverb,
increasing its ambient powers with a
full two seconds of delay, succulent
reverb sounds, and three operation
modes; Normal, Reverse, and Swell.
In Reverse mode the delay line is

reversed while the reverb remains
normal, and in Swell mode the player
can use picking dynamics to create
some truly enchanting, ghostly volume
swells. The Avalanche Run is outfitted
with tap tempo, expression control,
true bypass or trails, five selectable
tail lengths, and a secondary function
for the tap button in each mode . In
Normal or Swell mode, holding the tap
will churn up wild self-oscillation, and in
Reverse mode it turns the delay back
to normal mode until the button is
released. EarthQuaker’s Avalanche Run
is a delightful sonic playground for the
lover of spacious guitar tones. Get one!
