w e n p o l e v e D s l l ski We all yearn for self-improvement, right? Well friends, I’m here to tell you that building your own effects will make you a better, smarter human being. This is especially true if, like me, you have very little experience with electronics and building stuff. DIY pedal building is a great place to begin learning about basic electronics and the building blocks of electric guitar sounds, from voltage and impedance to pots, resistors, and those all-important transistors. It’s a lowvoltage affair, so even if a budding DIY enthusiast is something of a nitwit, there›s little danger of seriously electrocuting oneself. There are also plenty of simple circuits on which to get started, many are perfect for educating oneself about common components and the job they do within a circuit. Furthermore, simple projects such as these are an ideal platform for developing one’s soldering competency.
