Fairway And AWI Honor A Baraboo, Wisconsin Veteran
A Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation branch in Baraboo, Wisconsin collaborated with the American Warrior Initiative( AWI) to honor a local U. S. veteran with a service dog. Along with a donation, a residential housing“ Boot Camp” was held to train real estate professionals and mortgage planners on how to handle with excellence the home purchase needs of active duty military members and veterans.
The event honoree was Vietnam veteran Doug Lewis, who did not realize until recently that he has been suffering from PTSD. To assist Lewis with his PTSD, Fairway and the AWI honored him with a service dog named Cody. Additionally, thanks to a wonderful donation by Fairway’ s Baraboo branch, Cody is receiving a scholarship to finish his service dog education program with Custom Canines.
Loan coordinator Teddie Szydlowski played a large role in coordinating this event and was overwhelmed by its success! She commented:
“ The AWI event was so heartwarming and meaningful. There is no possible way to summarize it into just one or two sentences. The impact it had on our realtors, our staff and our community will be talked about for years to come.”
Founded by Louise Thaxton and Sean Parnell, the American Warrior Initiative is a non-profit organization sponsored by Fairway Independent Mortgage. The AWI seeks to ease U. S. veterans’ transition from military to civilian life.
