Welcome to 2022 !
One of the many lessons learned from 2020 was the importance in social interaction in the emotional wellbeing of human beings . With that in mind , it was important to us that the Town returned to offering as many events and programs as possible during 2021 . These events have become traditions shared by families throughout our community and voices throughout the Town asked for their return in a safe and responsible manner .
Town staff from the Recreation and Police Departments successfully implemented many of these events in 2021 . Classes , programs and athletic events returned to the Jupiter Community Center as Recreation staff worked to provide an environment that offered both physical and emotional support for Town residents . Youth sports returned to athletic facilities throughout Town . The Police Department once again began reaching out through various meet and greet opportunities aimed at building the bond between the men and women sworn to serve the Town and those residents that rely upon them for “ Safety ,” one of the Town ’ s nine areas of strategic results .
However , safety and social interaction weren ’ t the only areas of focus of the past 12 months . Thanks to a voter-approved bond , the Town was able to add to its open spaces with the purchase of 7.88 acres located at 500 N . Delaware Avenue ( see page 6 ). After some needed work , this property will one day provide an area where residents can appreciate our native , natural habitat in support of our strategic result on “ Green , Blue and Open Spaces .”
The Town also promoted what makes us “ uniquely Jupiter ” through the new Passport to Jupiter program ( see page 4 ). The first phase of this program is a fun , interactive booklet that allows the participants to discover 71 distinct locations within our area that gives Jupiter its “ Unique , Small Town Feel .”
The following pages include more information about the work performed by Town Council and Town staff over the past year . While much has been accomplished , there is still much to do in ensuring that we remain “ Uniquely Jupiter .”
