In the end, the PSO members cast their votes and the results were announced shortly after:
Unanimous ‘Yes’ to amalgamation! There were thirty one present voters and twenty nine
proxies. The total made forty five percent of the PSO’s entire voting membership. The minimum
By-law requirement is only twenty five percent. According to legislation, the Ministry’s approval
will now be required for official amalgamation. Existing members of the PSO or the LPA do not
have to pay new membership fees to join OPA.
The event could be watched live online through webinar. Many paralegals in Ontario are now
excited. They believe that a new era in the paralegal profession just started.
