Review of ULawPractice by Roger Dinner
I use Ulaw myself and the reasons I chose this program are as follows:
PROS
1. No huge cash outlay - very important for newcomers just starting out. The price point is excellent - instead of putting out over $1000.00 plus update fees etc. Cost is $29/month (special pricing for PSO/LPA MEMBERS) no money down, no other fees.
2. The fact that it is cloud based and can be accessed on any device - smartphone, tablets etc. - 24 hours a day/7 days a week from anywhere in the world.
3. Secure servers - based in Canada in 2 different locations
4. Excellent tech support (I drove them crazy)
5. Company is very attentive to customer's needs and requirements.
6. Forms generation - great time saver - enters the pertinent information in the appropriate fields i.e. you are less likely to make mistakes. The program has quite an extensive database of court forms e.g. Small Claims, HTA just to name a few.
7. Company is very willing and able to conduct in depth webinars
8. There are a wide range of "How to Videos" linked into the program as well as on You Tube
9. There is a 60 day trial for PSO/LPA members
10. There is a practice account that can be utilized at any time if you are not sure if you are doing it properly. The Tech support can view this practice account and show you where you are going wrong.
11. Generates invoices automatically as well as statements
12. Balances Trust and General accounts automatically
13. The ability to have add-ons which allows your client to sign your retainer agreement right there in front of you or allows you to generate forms and send them. (If you are using an add-on package - this will be the subject of our next Tech Talk column)
14. All data can be exported to Excel and to any program that supports Excel (if in the future you wish to change your practice management software)
