Field Hockey
GMercyU fell in a tough
1-0 decision to Wesley
College in the Atlantic East
Tournament Semifinal.
The team, which finished
the season with a 10-10
overall record, placed four
student-athletes on the 2019
Atlantic East Field Hockey
All-Conference Teams.
Senior Erika Cimino and
juniors Allison Campbell
and Michaela Swenk were
chosen to the first team.
Junior Alyssa Tomsic earned
a second team selection.
Swenk was also named to
the Philadelphia Inquirer’s
Academic All-Area Field
Hockey Team. In order
for a student-athlete to be
eligible for Academic All-
Area honors, they must be
in at least their second year
at the institution and hold
a cumulative grade point
average of 3.20 or better.
Women’s
Cross Country
The women’s cross country
team earned a runner-up
finish at the 2019 Atlantic
East Cross Country
Championship. Senior
Julianna Green finished
seventh and sophomore Emily
Stewart finished tenth. The
team went on to place 43rd
out of 49 scoring institutions
in the NCAA Mideast
Regional Championships.
Green was named to the
Atlantic East All-Conference
First Team while Stewart was
named to the Second Team.
Men’s Soccer
Women’s Soccer
The women’s soccer team
said goodbye to its lone
senior, Genny Lombardo,
who was a part of two
playoff teams during her
GMercyU career, as well
as longtime head coach
Neil Johnson, who in
January announced his
retirement from coaching.
Sophomore Amanda
Credidio was named to
the 2019 Atlantic East
Women’s Soccer All-
Conference Second Team
after leading the Griffins
with 11 points on five
goals and an assist. She
was named the Atlantic
East Player of the Week
on September 23 as she
had two goals in back-to-
back games, helping lead
the Griffins to victories.
The Griffins’ season
came to end in the first
round of the Atlantic East
Tournament with a 2-1 loss
to Marymount University.
The loss marked the end
for the team’s lone senior,
Kace Peters. Juniors Kevin
Bowers and Tyler Blair
were named to the 2019
Atlantic East Men’s Soccer
All-Conference Second
Team, marking Bowers’
second-straight season on
the all-conference team and
Blair’s first. Bowers was also
the second GMercyU men’s
soccer player to be named to
the Philadelphia Inquirer’s
Academic All-Area Team. In
order for a student-athlete to
