Outside of the Biology program , Grace was a member of the Student Association of Science ( SAS ) and Sigma Zeta Honors Society .
Grace plans to attend graduate school at Quinnipiac University for pathology .
GRADUATE STUDENT ALUMNI AWARD Jordan Truntich
After graduating with her Bachelor of Health Science in Occupational Science in spring 2022 , Jordan Truntich earned her Master of Science in Occupational Therapy degree this May .
Jordan was an involved student , serving as a Peer Mentor and co-leader of a campus volunteer project . She was also a four-year Field Hockey team member and participated in a number of other events across campus .
Upon finishing her fieldwork placement at Kennedy Krieger , Jordan plans to take the Occupational Therapy licensure exam and begin her career as an Occupational Therapist .
CATHERINE MCAULEY AWARD Marylee McCollum
Marylee McCollum , Social Work graduate , was a member of several organizations , including Student Government Association ( SGA ), Social Work and Psychology Club ( SWAP ), and American Association of University Women ( AAUW ). Her service endeavors included attending the NASW Legislative Education and Advocacy Day ( LEAD ) and taking part in GMercyU ’ s poverty simulations .
Marylee plans to obtain her BSW license by the end of the summer and has applied to Master of Social Work programs . Her dream is to become a Substance Abuse Counselor / Case Manager or a School Social Worker .
TENDER COURAGE AWARD Betsy Stone Plummer
The Tender Courage Award , established in 1993 to honor Sister Isabelle Keiss , acknowledges members of the staff and administration who work behind the scenes to make Gwynedd Mercy University the special place it is . The 2023 Tender Courage Award winner was Betsy Stone Plummer . Betsy has been serving GMercyU since 2000 – first as Director of Residence Life , before later moving into various roles within Campus Ministry and now as Director of Service and Catherine ’ s Cupboard in the Mercy Center for Service , Spirituality , & Justice .
Betsy oversees much of the service work done here at GMercyU , and coordinates Catherine ’ s Cupboard , our on-campus food pantry . She believes in the mission of the University and sees it as the context from which we build our work . During her 23 years at GMercyU , Betsy has consistently gone above and beyond to live the mission and serve our community .
