G NEW AT
STATE-OF-THE-ART LUNG SIMULATOR In fall 2022 , GMercyU ’ s Respiratory Care Program received the new ASL-5000 lung simulator by IngMar Medical . The simulator is capable of replicating a wide range of lung conditions for all ages and can “ breathe ” spontaneously . Students have the opportunity to use the simulator in their research course and in interprofessional simulation settings .
“ The simulator is a true game changer for our students as they learn about medical ventilation ,” said Randy Solly , MS RRT RPFT , Professor of Practice and Program Coordinator for Respiratory Care .
SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGY PREREQUISITE ( SLPP ) PROGRAM In Fall 2023 , GMercyU will launch its new Speech- Language Pathology Prerequisite ( SLPP ) Program . The program is designed to help students meet the admissions requirements for the Master of Science in Speech- Language Pathology ( MS SPL ) program , to launched in fall 2024 .
NEW RACP GRANT Senator Maria Collett and Representative Liz Hanbidge announced a $ 4,575,000 in Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program ( RACP ) grants to help fund four projects around their legislative districts .
GMercyU is one of the four recipients of the RACP grant , being awarded $ 1.25 million for the new Frances M . Maguire Healthcare Innovation Center .
“ We are truly grateful for Representative Hanbidge and Senator Collett ’ s support in helping us move this exciting project forward . This funding supports our plans to build a new healthcare innovation center , which will help us meet the urgent need for more compassionate healthcare professionals in the region ,” President Deanne H . D ’ Emilio , JD said .

CERTIFICATE PROGRAM GMercyU recently launched its new DEI Certificate program for educators , designed for those who hold a bachelor ’ s , master ’ s , or doctorate degree . The program contains two tracks , PreK-12 and Higher Education , each designed to prepare both teachers and administrators to utilize a social justice mindset as they investigate and address how social structures affect success .
