Commencement speakers share words of reflection , encouragement , and inspiration
UNDERGRADUATE COMMENCEMENT KEYNOTE SPEAKER Leigh Middleton Philanthropist
Leigh Middleton lives Mercy through her philanthropic work with Project HOME , which focuses on ending homelessness in the Philadelphia region , and her continued support of education , workforce development , and medical research . She has served on Project HOME ’ s Board of Trustees since 2007 , and also serves as co-chair of the Development Committee and sits on the Board ’ s Executive Committee . Together with her husband John , Leigh made one of the largest single private gifts to Project HOME to end and prevent chronic street homelessness . Leigh was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters Degree from Gwynedd Mercy University at the ceremony .

UNDERGRADUATE COMMENCEMENT STUDENT SPEAKER Lauren Jani ' 22 Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance
During her time on campus , Lauren served as the Co- President of Best Buddies , a representative on the Business Student Advisory Board , and a member of the Investment Club . Lauren also was a member of several honor societies at GMercyU and was the 2020 recipient of the Institute of Management Accountants ( IAM ) Scholarship . In addition to the many clubs and organizations she was involved in , Lauren was a student-athlete during her four years at GMercyU , playing on the field hockey team . Following graduation , Lauren plans to begin her career with Lincoln Financial serving as a Finance Associate LLP . Lauren was awarded the President ’ s Scholar Award at Honors Convocation , in recognition of her many contributions to the University community during her time on campus .

As a student at Gwynedd Mercy University , I feel as if I was able to find myself . GMercyU has a way of bringing people together like no other . GMercyU is a place that radiates off of the people who come here . It ’ s not just the students who come here that make this place unique . From the professors to the public safety officers to the dining hall staff , GMercyU makes you feel like you ’ re at home .
