WOMEN ’ S LACROSSE The Women ’ s Lacrosse team won a home postseason game for the first time in nine years with a 13-9 quarterfinal victory in the Atlantic East Women ’ s Lacrosse Tournament over Neumann University . The fourth-seeded Griffins moved on the semifinal round for the first time since 2012 where they were defeated by top-seeded Cabrini University . The loss closed the books on the team ’ s four seniors : Victoria Braeunle , Victoria Mollitor , Madison McCue , and Jill Kane .
SOFTBALL The highlight of the Softball season came with a doubleheader sweep of Immaculata University on Senior Day . Between games , the team honored its four seniors : Chelsea Briggs , Kaylee Craig , Brianna Polly , and Emily Shaheen . The four are the last members of the team that won the regular-season and hosted the conference tournament from 2018 . Their 2021 season came to a close as the Griffins suffered two tough defeats in the Atlantic East Conference Tournament Pod at Cabrini . GMercyU fell to the host Cavaliers on a walk-off home run in a 5-3 decision .
MEN ’ S TENNIS The Griffins finished the 2021 season with a 2-5 overall record and a 2-2 conference record . The team fell to
Immaculata University , 5-2 , in the semifinal round of the 2021 Atlantic East Men ’ s Tennis Team Tournament . This loss marked the end of the team ’ s three seniors college careers : Justin Collins , Hunter Wenger and Tommy Moore . The trio put together 30-plus combined wins in their time as Griffins .
WOMEN ’ S TENNIS The Women ’ s Tennis team finished the shortened season with a 1-2 overall record and a 1-1 conference record . The season came to an end in the semifinal match of the 2021 Atlantic East Team Tournament with a 5-2 loss at Marywood University . With the loss , the team says goodbye to its three seniors in Shannon Carroll , Nicolette Diaz , and Sydney Thompson . In two seasons , Carroll has amassed a 13-4 overall career record . Diaz stands at an impressive 49-21 overall mark as she ranks in the top 10 of best doubles win percentage . Thompson boasts a 40-4 record in three seasons played including a conference Rookie of the Year award in 2019 .
MEN ’ S TRACK AND FIELD GMercyU placed third out of six teams at the 2021 Atlantic East Men ’ s Track & Field Championships . The team , who totaled 84 points , featured two multiplace winners in James Harte and Sean Morris . Harte took first in pentathlon with a total score of 2190 and took third in the discus with a top mark of 26.50 meters . Morris was second in 10k in a time of 35:05.32s and third in the 5k , clocking in at 16:47.66 .
WOMEN ’ S TRACK AND FIELD The Women ’ s Track & Field team finished in third place at the 2021 Atlantic East Championships . The Griffins amassed 88 points to edge out Immaculata University for fourth by just one point . Siobhan McShea medaled in five events to lead the GMercyU , claiming first place in four of them , winning in the High Jump ( 1.40 meters ), 100 meter hurdles ( 17.23s ), the 400 meter hurdles ( 1:09.41s ) and winning the pentathlon ( 1937 points ). She took second in the long jump with a top mark of 4.76 meters . Her mark in the long jump was a PR to boot .
