round of the Atlantic East Conference Tournament to third-seeded Marymount University. Junior Victoria Mollitor registered her 100 th career point with a goal late in the game. Sophomore Victoria Braeunle was selected to the AEC First Team while Millitor was a second team choice. Earlier in the season, Braeunle and junior Samantha Brown surpassed 100 career goals, becoming the 11th and 12th players in program history to reach the century mark. Softball GMercyU’s softball season under first- year head coach David Hoch resulted in a well-earned playoff berth, but the year came to an end in the Atlantic East Tournament. The Griffins went 9-23 on the season with a 2-8 conference record. The team said goodbye to its two seniors Rebecca Christoffers and Alex Kinal. Junior Tori Sherwood earned a spot on the AEC First Team and junior Lauren Waller was a second-team selection. Men’s Tennis The Griffins entered the AEC Tournament as a third seed after going 4-7 during the regular season. Their season came to an end with a 5-0 semifinal defeat to second-seeded Neumann University. The loss marked the end for the teams three seniors, Brian Irwin, Josh Reimel, and Chris Wood. The squad placed five players on the All-Conference Team. Reimel and sophomore Max Schneider were selected to the first team in singles and both in doubles. On the second team, Irwin, junior Vince Viola, and sophomore Justin Collins earned spots. Women’s Tennis The Griffins finished with an impressive 11-4 overall record and 3-1 record in conference play. They fell just short of a conference title, losing to top- seeded Immaculata University in the championship match. Sophomore Sydney Thompson was selected the AEC Women’s Tennis Rookie of the Year. Duo senior Natalie Danze and junior Jenna Trythall were named to the AEC First Team. Danze was also a first-team pick in singles. Rounding out the second team was Trythall, along with the double duo of Thompson and sophomore Nicolette Diaz. Men’s Track and Field The Griffins capped off their 2019 season with a third place finish at the AEC Championships and top marks at the ECAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. At the ECAC Championships, freshman Elijah Rizzo won the high jump with a personal record of 2.01 meters, nailing the jump on his third attempt. Junior Armani Rivera produced a total of 12 team points on a second-place in the 5000 meters and a fifth-place in the 1500 meters. Junior Joe McCoy won the Atlantic East Triple Jump crown with a school record top mark of 13.92 meters to highlight the Griffins. Women’s Track and Field Rainah Dunham capped off an impressive indoor and outdoor seasons with an All American honor in the triple jump. The sophomore was seventh in the event at the Division III Indoor Championships in March. She earned her second prestigious honor in the outdoor season where she was the runner-up in the same event. Dunham along with freshman Siobhan McShea captured two marquee awards at the Atlantic East Championships as Dunham won the Women’s Track & Field Field Athlete of the Meet and McShea took home the Women’s Track & Field Rookie of the Meet.
