SPORTS wrap-up
Baseball
The Griffins finished with a solid playoff run and a final record of 21-13. The team went on an eight-game winning streak to clinch the # 2 seed and make the finals of the 2018 CSAC Tournament where they fell to the Keystone College Giants. Senior Austin Lescanec, juniors Zach Dennis and Gino Tripodi, sophomore Brian Wildrick, and freshman George Stewart were all named to the 2017- 2018 CSAC All-Academic Team. Junior Dave Tatoian broke the career 100 RBI mark, making him only the 10th player in Griffin history to do so. Tatoian joined senior Mike Di Ianni and junior Tommy Nardini on the All-CSAC First-Team. Junior Nick Mulvey and sophomore Liam Sullivan earned spots on the second team while senior Shaughn Wright and sophomore R. J. Boyle were chosen as an honorable mention.
Women’ s Basketball
The Women’ s Basketball team put up an impressive overall record of 17- 9, with a conference record of 14-2, earning them a # 2 seed in the CSAC Tournament. The Griffins were unable to win back-to-back CSAC Championships, losing to Neumann University in the semifinals. Senior Juliana Hoisington and junior Olivia Roseman were selected for the All-CSAC Second Team. Senior Alison Szyszko earned herself a spot on the CSAC All-Sportsmanship Team. Twelve players also made the CSAC All- Academic Team: Seniors Bianca Adams, Juliana Hoisington, Alison Szyzko, juniors Susan Bossler, Monet McGorda, Olivia Roseman, Marisa Sullivan, sophomores Chyanne Fine, Marissa Sandone, Denise Sacco, and freshmen Dylan Johnson and Sydney Thompson.
Men’ s Basketball
The Griffins had a successful season, going 20-6 with a 15-3 conference record. The team went into the CSAC Tournament as the # 2 seed, but they were knocked out in the semifinals by Neumann University. Seniors Will Davis and Rip Engel earned conference yearend awards. Davis was named to the CSAC First Team while Engel was a part of the CSAC Second Team as well as the CSAC All-Sportsmanship squad. Davis was also recognized by the National Association of Basketball Coaches( NABC) through his selection to the NABC Division III All-District Atlantic
Region Team. Davis averaged 18.7 points per game and 7.1 rebounds per game. Junior Courtney Cubbage and freshmen Justin Collins, Kyle Sullivan, and Jordan Perkins earned selections to the CSAC All-Academic Team.
Men’ s Lacrosse
The team finished with an overall record of 10-4 and a conference record of 6-1. They came up short, however, losing to Cabrini University in the CSAC Championship. Nine Griffins earned themselves All-Conference Honors this season. Senior Sean Miller, juniors Chris Burns, Jordan Dzierzgowski, and Shawn Ryan made the All-CSAC Second Team. Senior Dominic Moscariello, junior Ryan Simpson and sophomores Joey Giordano and Zach Groses were given honorable mention nods. Senior Joe Simpson was selected to the CSAC All-Sportsmanship Team. Twenty Griffins were also selected to the CSAC All-Academic Team.
Women’ s Lacrosse
The Griffins showed some tremendous improvement this season, finishing with a record of 6-11 with a playoff appearance but were eliminated by Immaculata
