University Research Conference
Research is a fundamental piece of nearly every industry , and here at Gwynedd Mercy University , our students get this experience starting at the undergraduate level . From partnering with faculty members on summer research projects to interning at some of the biggest research institutions in the nation , Griffins gain the invaluable skills that give them an edge in their job search and graduate school applications .
Each year , students get the opportunity to highlight their original research at the University Research Conference . COVID-19 may have halted our annual in-person event , but the show still went on virtually .

Undergrad research is something that GMercyU really stands out for ,” Biology senior Jordan Abelson said . “ I had the opportunity to present my research at SEPCHE , which is an undergraduate research conference for all the schools in this area , and at the University Research Conference , which is really exciting .

Students recorded presentations , organized poster presentations , and shared their publications in GMercyU ’ s firstever virtual research conference . Topics spanned all disciplines , from TikTok : National Security Concerns , Censorship , and Privacy to The Effects of Alcohol on the Alternative Activation of Microglial Cells . Associate Professor and Program Director for Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy Thomas Mernar , PhD , OTR / L provided the keynote address .
