Men ' s Basketball
GMercyU captured the 2020 ECAC Men ’ s Basketball Championship , with the Griffins holding off Rutgers-Newark , 75-71 . Rich Dunham was named Tournament MVP as the senior capped off his career with a 24-point performance to lead all scorers . This is the first ECAC Championship in program history in the sport of men ’ s basketball . With the win , the Griffins finished the season with a record of 23-7 . It also marked the final games for the team ’ s three seniors : Dunham , Slewion , and Austin Harriott .
Baseball *
The Griffins kicked off their 2020 season with a pair of losses but quickly rebounded by winning two out of three at the Gallaudet Bison Classic in Washington , DC . The team then traveled to Florida for their annual Spring Break trip where they participated in the Russmatt Central Florida Invitational . They returned north for one final game before the season came to an unexpected end , going 3-8 . The team also posted the highest GPA ( 3.15 ) among the seven teams in the Atlantic East Conference . The season marked the end for the team ’ s six seniors : R . J . Boyle , Will Brownlowe , Matt Pallotta , Jared Gorman , Liam Sullivan , and Brian Wildrick .
Men ' s Lacrosse *
The team kicked off the season strong , going 3-3 before the season halted . The group posted the highest GPA among all seven teams in the Atlantic East Conference with a 3.39 GPA . This is the second year in a row the team earned the honor . The shortened season marked the end for the team ’ s 11 seniors : Luke Xanthopoulos , Lucas Gray , Zach Groses , Ryan Gartenmayer , Conor Simpson , Blaise Amelio , Derek Alcavage , Kohler Setley , Bryan Butler , Joey Giordano , and Justin Roberts .
Softball *
The Griffins traveled to South Carolina to participate in the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic , where they returned home with one win and finished up the shortened season with a 1-7 record . The team had 11 players selected to the conferences ’ All-Academic team and said goodbye to its four seniors : Tori Sherwood , Lauren Waller , Alexis Gartner , and Amanda Clark .
* Due to the COVID-19 pandemic , the spring sports season was abruptly cut short in mid-March .
