A MESSAGE from the PRESIDENT
It is not hyberbole to say that there is so much to be thankful for here at Gwynedd Mercy University this holiday season. This fall, we proudly opened the new, state-of-the-market Frances M. Maguire’ 55 Healthcare Innovation Center( HIC). This stunning space is now the largest academic building on campus and features everything that our students need to become the next generation of compassionate, skilled healthcare professionals.
Our students already feel at home. Step inside the HIC, and you’ ll find students gathered together in study pods, curled up in cozy chairs between classes, or refueling at the HIC’ s mini-market. They are learning in“ smart” classrooms and building their confidence in multiple simulation labs, using all the latest technology and tools.
It is incredibly satisfying to see this years-long vision finally brought to life. In the pages of this magazine, you’ ll read more about this historic GMercyU milestone – what it means for the future of healthcare, and the generous donors who helped make it all possible.
But there is so much more to be grateful for, including our new Crime Scene House, where students are honing reallife crime scene investigation skills. For this new campus addition, we rehabbed the former Transfiguration House, turning the place that many Sisters of Mercy once called home into the scene of simulated murders, assaults, and other nefarious activities. The irony is not lost on any of us!
This fall also marked the largest first-year class in 13 years. We’ ve scored multiple accolades, including being named a national university on U. S. News & World Report’ s annual Best Colleges rankings. And, we’ re closing in on our Mercy in Motion campaign goal of $ 30 million, with nearly $ 5 million in new scholarships created in the past three years. A heartfelt thank you to all who have and continue to support GMercyU.
You really can feel the positive momentum here on campus. Come visit us this holiday season and see for yourself!
Join us on Tuesday, December 2 for our annual Christmas Tree Lighting, on December 3 rd, 5 th or 6 th for the Voices of Gwynedd Annual Carol Nights, or come cheer on your fellow Griffin alum Darnell Artis’ 16 as he coaches our men’ s basketball team in the newly renovated Griffin Complex.
It’ s a great time to be a Griffin!
