Cool off after a long day of school or work with these simple drinks!
Sangria
Ingredients:
750 ml bottle of red wine (Merlot, Shiraz or Cabernet Sauvignon), 1 Lemon/Lemon juice, 1 Orange/Orange Juice, 2 Tbsp of sugar, 2 cups of ginger ale or soda.
Preparation:
Squeeze the lemon and orange into a pitcher (about 1/3 a cup of lemon juice and 2/3 a cup of orange juice). Pour the wine. Add sugar. Cool overnight. Add ice and ginger ale/soda before serving.
Advanced:
Add a shot of brandy and gin for an extra kick!
Watermelon lemonade
Ingredients:
2 lbs of sliced seedless watermelon with the rind removed, 1 cup of lemon juice, ½ a cup of mild honey (orange blossom).
Preparation:
Process the watermelon until very smooth in a food processor. Strain into a pitcher to remove the pulp. Whisk lemon juice and honey in a bowl until the honey dissolves. Stir into the pitcher with the watermelon juice. Add 2 cups of cold water to the pitcher and stir. Serve with ice.
Advanced:
Add 3 shots of vodka. You can also add some peach slices for extra sweetness!
