KITCHENS
Refresh your kitchen this spring

Spring is the perfect time to give your kitchen a thorough reset. Rather than focusing only on cleaning, it ' s also an opportunity to improve hygiene, organisation, safety, and the longevity of your cabinetry, appliances, and worktops, says Stephanie Forbes, National Manager of the Kitchen Specialists Association( KSA).
Clean and inspect your cabinet doors
Cabinet doors, drawer fronts, and side panels collect grease and fingerprints without us noticing. Clean doors with warm water and a mild detergent, but first consult the material supplier to ensure the product will not damage the finish. It is always best to use a soft or microfibre cloth.
This is also the perfect time for a hardware check. Make sure all screws and handles are tightened, and check that the hinges and draw runners operate smoothly. Give your hinges a coat of silicone spray.
If you are adventurous and handy, this may be the right time to give the kitchen a little facelift by changing up the handles. As long as the replacements have the same screw spacing, this should be pretty easy to do. You can also adjust doors that have dropped or become misaligned. Most modern hinges have simple adjustment mechanisms, but don’ t attempt this if the supplier has shown you how. Give them a call instead, as they should be able to advise you.
