Cape Town 2026

Cape Town lived up to its reputation as a former Word Design Capital, when designers, makers, and visitors converged on the Cape Town International Convention Centre for Decorex Cape Town 2026. Held under the theme The Soft Life, this year’ s exhibition turned out to be a massive crowd-puller and once again raised the bar on professionalism.
Twin design forces
Among the designers exhibiting were awardwinning twins Jason Joseph Henry and Joshua George Henry, the founders of the the. minimalist( www. theminimalistcpt. com). Built on precision engineering and forward-thinking design, and the belief that ideas, when crafted with intention, can become timeless, functional works of art, the firm is reshaping the future of modern manufacturing and design.
Four years into trading, their small sketches and after-hours builds have evolved into a thriving design and manufacturing studio with real clients, real partnerships, and real impact. Today, the. minimalist transforms raw ideas into carefully engineered solutions, products, and pieces that marry high-end design with technical excellence.
Speaking at Decorex Cape Town, Joshua said it was during long shifts and late nights working in their grandfather’ s manufacturing company that they mastered the craft of stainless-steel fabrication, while their enduring love for design was also seeded.
To Build on show
Meanwhile, To Build’ s publisher Media Xpose rolled out the red carpet for show visitors at a beautiful and inviting stand in the centre of the venue floor. The soft, luxurious stand was expertly designed and executed by Jody Vlok of the TCC Construction Group. The stand was cosponsored by leading players in décor, NewGen Trade Schools, ChowBella, Wallpaper Inn, and Baobab Plant Hire. Also at the To Build stand was sponsor Louise Bergman of Urban Jungle Interiors. We interviewed her.
“ I took over Urban Jungle Interiors as an existing business in Wilderness on the Garden Route in 2021. After working many years in exports, I craved the opportunity to pick up my passion for interior design,” she said.
“ We specialise in turn-key projects. These include Airbnbs and holiday homes for local and overseas owners, as well as guesthouses, lodges, and boutique hotels.”
“ We are committed to supporting artisans in South Africa and around the world. Mixing old and new, we cover every detail of interior and exterior spaces, including floor, wall, and window treatments, furniture, and décor. We work with local bespoke furniture manufacturers like De Steyl and Wood & Weaves, as well as African furniture and décor suppliers. For soft furnishings, we work with 12 fabric houses.”
The stand was also co-sponsored by Hertex Haus.
“ We value small and large projects, but we find that premium property owners emphasise individuality and quiet luxury. They rank lifestyle and functionality highly, with an equal emphasis on look and feel, as well as timeless quality and craftsmanship,” Louise concludes.

Jason, driven by an instinct for form and detail, started creating model furniture in the upstairs workspace at home after hours. Joshua, equal parts strategist and operator, kept the gears turning, handling quotes, administration, and production, and building the business backbone that would eventually support their shared vision.
