The newly redesigned Sun City Hotel, which reopened in November 2025, beckons as a great example of reimagined design.
In 2024, Sun International carried out a complete renovation of the Sun City Hotel, its iconic and renowned entertainment and leisure“ mecca”. Moving from dullness back to splendour, the aim was to align with their overall design brief. So, how was this achieved?
The project managers were briefed to complete the project on time for the 2025 Nedbank Golf Challenge and the busy December season, ensuring that most of the hotel’ s 350 rooms are seamlessly available by November 2025.
From the newly reimagined porte-cochère, which now radiates additional glamour, to the attractive new rooms, the brief for the designers was to deliver on the brand ' s promise that visitors would fall in love with this, the original Sun City icon, all over again.
Beautifully sculpted granite floors, intricately patterned, greet visitors, setting the tone for a luxurious experience ahead. A“ mesmerising” light display ceiling dazzles with its stunning visuals, guiding you towards the newly designed entrance, where a frameless view offers an unobstructed sightline of the hotel lobby.
The upgrade included the hotel lifts and a reimagining of the legendary octagon pool. For those who enjoy a puff, a revamped smoking casino entrance is available, while the Sun Terrace has been transformed into a modern space for relaxed dining.
