At a combined Hydrofire / Media Xpose finger supper product launch, Hydrofire, the supplier of Helios Fire firepits, unveiled their Apollo and Eros ranges of portable fire pits.
These fire pits are truly multi-functional and built to last. Most importantly, they can be moved to any outdoor area of the home where they are needed, serving as an outdoor drinks table( when not in use), an outdoor fire pit for warming legs on cooler evenings, and as a handy braai. Additionally, thanks to exclusive engineered quality, they are as close to smoke-free as possible – even when using slightly green firewood.
Both the Helios Apollo and Helios Eros ranges are made from heavy-duty 304 stainless steel, and buyers can choose between an uncoated stainless steel finish or a black coated version. The“ silver” finish stainless steel model may develop a unique patina over time due to the intense heat, but this is regarded as a positive feature.
Apollo is the larger of the two sizes, with Eros prioritising portability – both come with a carry bag. If left on the patio, they can be closed off with a cover, which also doubles as a handy drinks table. There are various stainless steel braai attachments and accessories available. No rust on these beauties!

Another major benefit is that the units remain cool to the touch. So there’ s no“ eina” when you accidentally touch the outer surface, unlike many metal patio free-standing braais or kettle braais!
The design and showroom team at Hydrofires are highly knowledgeable. Some of the technical staff are reportedly qualified engineers in heat transfer and heating systems. Business owner Kristo Nikolov tells us that the company prioritises engineering and technical expertise, ensuring it remains aligned with the latest international standards.
“ We promote continuous learning through annual training sessions held during the off-peak season, resulting in certain accreditations that include training in central heating and underfloor heating systems across Europe. Our management teams attend major international expos each year to stay up-to-date with the latest innovations and developments,” he says.
The event, co-hosted by Hydrofire, To Build, SA Building Review, and Essential Flavours magazines, concluded on a high note when Kristo drew on behalf of his company and announced the main prize – a Helios Fire Eros firepit / braai, made from hard wearing stainless steel.
