Given the right platform, what could we expand into, in order to grow an
audience for you and me both?
HJ
Well, John, Given the right platform, we can expand into a more creative forum
where the arena you and I set, is involving people who have common situations to bring
common solutions. Make resources available to those who need it. Focus on topics that
the public wants to hear and allow the public to interact with you.
When people see that your genuine intentions are to either help or bring about a topic
that no one wants to talk about, that is when you can expand yourself as an artist and as
a beacon of hope for those who have no voice in the public sector.
It is very common that radio personalities later become working voice over talents
and record through other studio facilities to establish their own businesses and market
themselves as narrators, making money with their voices. I learned three elements from
my voice coach, Vanessa Richardson, who taught me that to make an impression and
to effectively communicate your message to your listener, you must watch your tone,
don’t force delivery and chose words wisely.
It is not only what you say, but more
importantly, it is how you say it!
How can we revive the importance of talk radio and magazine publications?
HJ
As I mentioned before, talk radio is always, and will forever be, an anchor for
every human being of our generation, and the future generations to come, or for anyone
who has an idea, a problem, a solution and a fight for a cause who seeks a microphone
to speak to the world.
We can start by pitching our ideas for a weekly show to both Sirius and XM Satellite
Radio. It helps that we have broadcasting experience, a strong pitch for a show, and a
demo to show them we mean business.
They except email pitches at
[email protected], and they prefer that you send suggestions by U.S. mail to
the programming department.
