In February of 2014, our professors of KNW2300- otherwise known
as Intro to Engineering Design- told us that we would build a robot.
Even for a team of college students, this seemed like a daunting
task. They promised we could do it, and we started making plans.
To begin, we learned how to organize our team. Since our
assignment would last several months, we needed to break apart
the tasks. Each section was called a “sprint,” and we would use
four.
In order for our robot to be successful, it would require many
different disciplines of engineering. Our team covered four of these:
computer science, environmental engineering, mechanical
engineering, and electrical engineering. This didn’t deter us
though; engineers use their resources to find what they need – even
when they don’t know where to start.
