Due to weather conditions, during the low season many of your hotels and tourism attractions are closed. Is this an issue the local tourism industry is advocating to change and, if so, how would you like TLN source markets to promote the island during this period?

Seasonality remains one of the biggest challenges for Corfu, as it does for many Mediterranean destinations. However, I believe we have already started moving in the right direction. Cruise activity now extends almost throughout the entire year, international connectivity continues to improve and more businesses are beginning to recognize the opportunities that exist beyond the traditional summer season. We have also achieved an important step together with the Municipality of Corfu and the island's tourism stakeholders by securing twice-weekly winter flights between Corfu and London. Maintaining air connectivity during the winter months is essential if we truly want to extend the season and support local businesses beyond the summer period.

In this Chamber of Commerce, one of our priorities is to support the transition. We want Corfu to be recognized not only as an outstanding summer destination, but as a place that offers meaningful experiences throughout the year.Corfu is much more than beautiful beaches. It has a UNESCO World Heritage Old Town, centuries of Venetian, French and British influence, a remarkable musical tradition, unique gastronomy, villages that preserve their authenticity and one of the richest Easter celebrations anywhere in Europe. These experiences do not disappear when summer ends. In many ways, they become even more authentic.

This is why I believe communication plays such an important role. We should not just encourage visitors to come in winter. We should tell a different story about Corfu. A story centered on culture, heritage, gastronomy, nature, wellness and authentic local experiences
