LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT
This year, your TJCL board has
been engineering some exciting
things. We have a geographically
diverse board this year; officers come
from all parts of Tennessee. With
this exciting occurrence, our board
meetings have been held mostly via
Skype. Though there is a greater
distance between board members, the
#JCLove is still present. One notable
exception to the skype model was the
annual TJCL Fall planning meeting.
This year, Fall planning was held at
the University of Memphis, the
location of this year’s convention.
Your
officers
reviewed
service
projects, spirit themes, constitutional
amendments, and plans to make this
year’s convention the best one yet.
Though there is still much to plan
(and therefore more skype calls!), I
am confident that every TJCLer will
have loads of fun at the 2020 TJCL
Convention.
In what was possibly the most
interesting phenomenon during my
time in office, I had the opportunity
to meet with someone that had found
two TJCL Scrapbooks from 1973 and
1977 in an abandoned house. My jaw
dropped when I saw the amount of
work that went into creating these
scrapbooks. As a lover of history,
these books truly reminded me of
why I love the TJCL. While the
details are still being worked out, I
hope to have these books on display
for all of TJCL to see at
Convention.
Thank you, TJCL, for your support
of the executive board. I look forward
to seeing old friends and making new
ones at the convention! Please email
me with any questions, comments, or
rare scrapbook findings.
