Campaign corner
Salvete omnes! I don’t mean to
sound like a broken record, but I’m
here as your Parliamentarian to
again encourage you all to run for
o ice. I know the process may
seem daunting, but the newly
updated Campaign Corner can
now be found on the TJCL website,
under the 2019 Convention tab.
This is an extensive guide to
everything you would need to
know before running for o ice,
and I hope it answers all of your
questions. From an event by event
run-down, to testimonials from
your current state o icers, this
Campaign Corner contains
plentiful information for all of you
prospective candidates out there.
Although it’s been stated
numerous times, there have been
key changes to the function of the
TJCL. The o ice of Secretary will
be eliminated a ter this year, with
its responsibilities absorbed by the
1st Vice President and the
Communications Coordinator.
More speci ically, the 1st Vice
President will be in charge of
managing service, and the
Communications Coordinator will
be in charge of taking minutes.
Additionally, this year all seven
o ices will be elected at the TJCL
convention, instead of some being
appointed a terwards.
All these changes mean that your
involvement as the TJCL is extremely
important, and I encourage you all to
consider running for o ice. As long as
you meet the requirements laid out by
the TJCL Constitution, you can be an
o icer- it’s that simple. I hope that
every single one of you heeds these
words, because we as a board are
hoping to encourage several more
candidates from West and East
Tennessee; we hope that by having
greater representation on the board, we
can extend the reach and love of the JCL
farther across our entire state. I’m
already more than delighted to have
received interest from TJCLers in these
regions, and I cannot wait to see more
of you involved. I wholeheartedly
encourage you all to not let such a great
opportunity to serve the TJCL pass. If
you have any questions at all, please do
not hesitate to contact me!
Valete,
Emily Caldarelli
2018-2019 TJCL Parliamentarian
