NO GUTS, NO GLORY
Jaguars late rally falls short in Houston,
another division game looms

The rookie quarterback knows there is more
out there for this offense, but he knows how
close they were to pulling off a win anyway.
“You know what? The encouraging thing is
we didn’t play even close to what we should
have, and we were right there in the game
and could have won it, should have won it.”
There is plenty for Minshew to work on
as a sixth-round rookie, but that fi nal
drive showed the fortitude that many NFL
quarterbacks do not have. Minshew did his
part – delivering a touchdown drive in the
fi nal minutes of a road division game when
things had not gone particularly well all day.
Turnaround
Defensive captain Calais Campbell explained
the quick turnaround this week for the
Jaguars after a tight loss in the division.
Jaguars gained only 213 yards on offense.
They put together enough to get kicker
Josh Lambo into fi eld goal range late in the
second quarter and again midway through
the fourth.
Minshew was sacked four times and fumbled
the ball three times, recovering two of them.
Leonard Fournette could not fi nd much
traction in the running game, gaining only 47
yards on 15 carries.
“It’s going to be painful, but we’ve got to
bounce back, you know, 24-hour rule and
then move on,” Campbell said. “This one
isn’t even 24-hour rule because we’ve got
a big game on Thursday, so another tough
game.”
All the games are all going to be tough from
here on out. The Jaguars displayed some
guts last week in an adverse situation. More
adverse situations are on the horizon, and
there is a lot of season left after this week.
Do they have more performances like last
week’s fourth quarter in them?
We will fi nd out starting tonight.
