le velo – unique bikes
But what to do with so many old bikes? Right, restore them!
Senad Sarac is looking for parts or entire bikes in sheds, basements or flea markets, which are solid hand-made and partly richly ornamented. They are often discarded for many years and thus in a horrible condition. He combines traditional bicycle craftsmanship with today’ s technique by putting emphasis on retaining the original character to make the bikes fully operational for the next decades.
If you visit the shop, you can take a look into the workshop, which is home to original tools from two centuries and still in use to build the bikes as authentic as possible and get a consulting if you are interested in one of Sarac’ s beauties. Every bike is planned after the ideas and wishes of the customer, so that every bike which leaves the shop is a complete unicum.
The concept of Le Vélo is to coat the paintwork with a special lacquer to preserve the originally appearance – with all signs of the times and scratches – and add new hand-made parts like the handles which Senad himself produces out of wood or leather. This way, the bikes get their individual charme, which is a combination of sustainability, tradition and contemporary fashion – made forever.
