DEALING WITH DIFFICULT SITUATIONS/UNUSUAL BEHAVIOURS 1. Sleeping or Withdrawing Frequently or Sleeping at Odd Times It is common for individuals who have just experienced Psychosis to: - Sleep longer hours during the night (or even during the day). - Feel the need to be more quiet and alone. - Be less active and not want to do much. These behaviours are natural ways of slowing down to help the brain and body recover. 1 Remind yourself that your sibling may need to sleep more during the recovery phase. 2 Leave your brother or sister alone but make regular contact whenever they are up and about. 3 Let your sibling know that you are there if needed. 15
