Construction

Our local NGO partner, Child’s Dream, establishes a close partnership with the community leaders and the school management when developing educational infrastructure projects to ensure a more successful outcome. This is seen in terms of successfully meeting educational needs and supporting community development that leads to greater sustainability.

At Tin Hted High School the community was encouraged to actively participate in the construction. This participation has given villagers a stronger sense of pride and ownership of their school. The community contributed by providing gravel for construction, providing manual labour, filling the school foundation and monitoring the progress of the construction.

A local contractor, with whom Child's Dream has successfully implemented other projects in the past, was chosen to manage labour and transportation of materials, oversee construction and supply furniture. The contractor was paid in instalments after the completion of each step of the building process, according to a written agreement. Five percent of the total labour cost will be held for twelve months after completion of construction as a guarantee for the quality of the work.

Construction began in February 2019. During the following months, the Child's Dream project team visited the construction site several times to ensure that high-quality standards were being met. They visited the site various times throughout the building process and were pleased with the cooperation of the community and the result of the construction process.
