Autumn has finally arrived … Where ’ s the cool , crisp weather ?

The falling leaves Drift by my window The autumn leaves Of red and gold I see your lips The summer kisses The sunburned hands I used to hold
Since you went away The days grow long And soon I ’ ll hear Old winter ’ s song But I miss you most of all , my darling When autumn leaves start to fall
— Song “ Autumn Leaves ,” written by Jacques Prevert and Joseph Kosma
As noted over the years , I LOVE cold weather . And autumn preceding what I consider the greatest season of the year ( winter ) is a close second . Autumn , where art thou ? Why haven ’ t I seen the leaves changing colors ? A dazzling display of gold and crimson leaves . Why is the grass still lush and green ? And more importantly , where are my cool , crisp early mornings and days just hovering over the 70s ?
Instead , I ’ m waking up to morning temperatures in the mid-70s and days hovering just above 90 degrees ?
Bring me my autumn ! Better yet , bring me what some consider the cold , dreary days of winter . I digress …
