“I have been coming to the center for at least 25 years before it even
moved to this location. I have taken many of the classes here because
they give me something to do. I really like the fellowship and getting
together with my friends. The center’s director is wonderful, too.
She really takes care of us.”
Kathy Rollins, MAC member
center welcomes all people regardless
of whether they are active or have
limited mobility. A class is available to
meet everyone’s physical needs.
“I love the people who come here.
They are all different, and they are all
wonderful. They are dedicated and
enthusiastic,” said Wilson, who offers a
free yoga class from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on
Mondays and Thursdays that is open to
anyone.
Jack Massey comes almost daily to
the center. He has taken art, stained
glass and ceramics classes among oth-
ers. Now, he comes to practice pool
and to visit with everyone. He doesn’t
really know the rules of pool and hopes
the center will find an instructor to
teach a pool class.

“I would really love a pool class,” he
laughed.
Anderson said anyone who can
volunteer to teach pool should contact
her because she has an interest among
several of the center’s attendees.
Although she has participated in
many of the activities and courses
offered through the center, Caulene
Wilkinson loves the art classes. They
are her favorite. She has grown her
knowledge of acrylics, mixed media,
collage, and other art forms.
“Since my retirement I have had
more time to pursue art, which
was a lifelong dream of mine,” said
Wilkinson, a retired insurance agent.
“I can do that here, and I like the cama-
raderie and fellowship with the other
participants because it inspires you and
you can exchange ideas with them.”
Wilkinson encourages other retire-
ment-age area residents to drop by the
center and see what it has to offer.
“They have a broad spectrum of
classes that retired people can take
advantage of to keep active and
involved. They have a lot of activities
where you don’t have to take a class but
can be involved. There is just so much
to do and so many people you can
meet,” Wilkinson said. “We don’t have
anything else like this in Meridian.”
