said , ‘ This place is wonderful . I ’ ve never seen anything like it ,” Anderson said . “ We ’ ve had several people from out of state as well as in-state , including Jackson , to tell me they don ’ t have anything like Meridian Activity Center where they live . We have a real gem here , a real treasure . We encourage people to realize the activity center is here , it has to much to offer and to take advantage of it .”
And while the number and types of classes and programs have been reduced in recent years due to the pandemic , Anderson is looking forward to rebuilding the center ’ s offerings . New programs and instructors are welcomed .
“ If anyone has a special talent or skill they would like to share , we ask that they contact us about becoming an instructor ,” she said . “ We ’ re always looking for new interests to offer .”
Meridian Activity Center is also the setting for several groups , including bridge clubs , domino , quilting , retiree and specialty groups .

Checks are to be made payable to city of Meridian : $ 27 , adults under 55 living in city limits ; $ 32 , adults under 55 living outside city limits ; $ 15 , adults over 66 living inside city limits ; $ 18 , adults over 66 living outside city limits .
