One of Meridian ’ s hidden gems continues to shine in offering art and crafts classes , as well as a variety of fitness genres — all at an affordable price
Meridian Activity Center , a popular facet of the city ’ s Parks and Recreation Department , offers six fiveweek classes and activities to ages 21 years and older . Located at 3300 32nd Ave ., the facility is currently in its summer session .
“ Attendance is a little down , but that ’ s not unusual this time of year as people are vacationing , having visits from family and friends and getting out more because its summer ,” MAC
Director Kathy Anderson said . “ But we ’ re still open , our summer classes are ongoing and we anticipate an increase when our fall and winter sessions begin .”
The facility continues to build it base , especially with young people , who , according to Anderson , not only participate in classes but also take advantage of MAC ’ s other offerings .
“ We offer several classes that are popular with young people , particularly the exercise classes ,” she said . “ They also enjoy the sewing and quilting .”
Meridian Activity Center ’ s uniqueness is not only appreciated by Meridian area residents . Newcomers to the area recognize its value . “ I recently had a lady who moved here a few months ago from upstate New York to sign up for one of our yoga classes and she
