Winstead ’ s travels have included carnivals in Rio and Barcelona , visiting European cathedrals , world castles and ruins and dining with family and friends in various locales . his traveling – both in the U . S . and beyond .
In early 2020 , he went on a trip to Haiti and part of the Caribbean . Other trips , including a weeklong cruise in the Caribbean , were canceled in 2020 .
“ I ’ ve missed traveling a great deal ,” Winstead said , sighing slightly .
He is hopeful that the pandemic will be stemmed and he can travel again by summer . He has a cruise in the Greek Isles planned and hopes to return to Pompei , Italy before the year is over .
“ They have had some new discoveries there ,” Winstead said . “ I hope to get back there .”
Winstead said it ’ s impossible to pick his favorite trip . But there are some places he finds himself returning to , and others he feels he does not necessarily need to revisit . He said he especially recommends the Greek Isles . “ It ’ s hot and sweaty but so fascinating ,” he said . “ Rome has really grown on me . I also really like Athens . Istanbul is a place you don ’ t hear about traveling to as much , but it ’ s fantastic .” He said that one of his favorite memories is skydiving in Fiji . “ I was about 60 at the time ,” he said . “ My nephew had been to Fiji and told me I should stop there on my way to Australia . I have a fear of heights , but it was an amazing experience . It ’ s something I want to do again but I haven ’ t managed to do it here . That ’ s how travel is – it helps you to explore and to do things you might not be as likely to do at home .”
