Tiffany Williams finds new life , connections through yoga

Tiffany Williams knew she was in a bad place in 2020 when the TV and couch started to feel like her dearest friends , and life beyond her home started to feel bland and colorless .

“ Like most people , I found 2020 to be a very difficult time ,” Williams recalled . “ I had just gotten really complacent and was completely OK with sitting on my couch on Friday night and not really going anywhere or doing anything until I was back at work on Monday .”
Recognizing that something needed to change , the 50-year-old scraped herself off the couch and headed to yoga class . She had attempted to practice yoga before , with several false starts .
“ Life just kind of got in the way ,” she recalled . “ And of course , in 2020 , it got in the way in a major way .”
Benefiting mind , body
Williams has been back at it for several months now , and she says she feels a dramatic difference – both in body and spirit .
“ Honestly , I think starting back at yoga helped me to like myself a little better ,” she recalled . “ I think all of us have some things about ourselves that we don ’ t really like – things we wish were a bit different . But I just really hit a point where I didn ’ t like who I was – didn ’ t like how I felt or much about myself .”
These days , Williams said that practicing yoga is a regular reminder that her body can stretch and learn to do new things – and also that she has a small circle of other practitioners who are there supporting her and wishing her the very best .
