David Dunavent is a hard-hitting blues rock musician hailing from the heart of the Mississippi Delta . He has played alongside blues legends like Bill “ Howl ’ n Madd ” Perry , James “ Super Chickan ” Johnson , current blues sensation Jarekus Singleton , and many more before striking out on his own . Influenced by these greats , and incorporating a mixture of Delta , Texas , and Chicago blues , David Dunavent has set out to blaze a new trail for the blues in Mississippi and beyond . After leaving the Air Force ( where he met and played with Duke Ellington ), Lonn ’ e moved to Los Angeles and formed The Promotia Band , opening for James Brown . He returned to Mississippi in 2003 and has since performed with his own band , Lonn ’ e George and Flash , and the Blue Monday Band . Lonn ’ e does not restrict himself to playing blues , he also plays jazz

Queen City Paddle

Meridian ’ s second annual full paddling event . Compete and have fun with fellow paddlers in a laidback setting on a beautiful city lake with NO boat traffic while benefiting Hope Village for Children .
Ideal for folks of all athletic abilities , from beginners to accomplished paddlers . Most human-powered paddled craft are welcome ( SUP , Kayak , Canoe ) and participants may choose between a 3- or 6-mile course . We also have a short-distance fun race for kids and kids-at-heart ; so bring your families and friends along .
Awards for top finishers of each class . T-shirts , goodies , and food for all participants .
