Size does matter
As permanent travellers you need to be
comfortable. As pensioners we don’t like being
ripped off by Aussie manufacturers that charge
ridiculous prices for the type of van that can be
purchased for a third of the price overseas.
We imported a 30 footer with slide-outs that
fits the bill perfectly and does not leave you to
uncomfortable to watch TV, like the dinettes
in small vans. We will soon downsize as we
wish to get into a park home so no longer need
so much room for shorter breaks, but still
prefer to go at least 23ft with recliner chairs for
comfort. Wake up Aussie builders its comfort
that counts with size and better design.

As a truck driver I have driven
cars and whilst I have never towed a van,
I do tow two trailers much bigger and
heavier as a b-double combination. This
can gross well over 60 tonnes, is up to 26
metres long and so is double articulated.
Many of you will have seen caravans
with Channel 18 signs on them (and I believe
the CMCA has also now moved to Channel
18 and I congratulate them for this). I started
