in one of the worst holiday traffic snarls on VIC’s Mornington
Freeway. Do we need more rules and restrictions for towing?

David Veles More rules more rules and more fines that go along with more rules.
Instead of more revenue earning rules, why don’t we just have people with good
old fashioned sense? If you restrict the speed limit to 80 KPH think of the trucks
and other road users your slowing down and getting hot under the collar. The driver
of the car pictured above was towing the van with an under rated vehicle.
Chris Gordon-Smith His she’ll-be-right attitude, could have cost
lives, this van looks all of 30 ft and far to heavy for the tug.
Murray Ellwood Driver training and mandatory standards for the tow
vehicle or combination should apply. This would make special speed limits,
which create congestion themselves, unnecessary. I would ensure my
son knew what he was doing because his safety matters to me
Glenn Chaffey It wouldn’t hurt to have at least some basic mandatory
training for towing things of a certain weight or size. Not to overregulate but to pass on the experience of qualified people.
Darren Corr Dropping speed limits won’t help anyone, endorsements
would, and being able to reverse should be part of the endorsement.
John Westbury a 21 year old should not have been towing a 22 footer for a
start. I can also say with some authority that it had no level riders and vehicle did
not have electric brakes. Maybe educate young ones, not us old nomads.
